Qantas owned Jetstar, has taken an 18% stake in Vietnam's Pacific Airlines, in July 2007.
The new airline was renamed Jetstar Pacific and will begin services within Vietnam and later on by acquiring 30 Airbus 320, expanding its network to over 40 destinations across Asia, the Asia Pacific, Australia and New Zealand. The metamorphosed airline will by the end of 2008 fly to Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia. At the moment Jetstar Pacific flies to seven destinations in Vietnam operating almost 130 weekly return services with an existing fleet of four single class Boeing 737-400s.
