I was recently in Pudu Hostel for backpackers, right across from the Puduraya bus station.
The hostel is quite comfortable and has a lobby with a wide screen TV DVD and plenty of
space to relax , eat and drink at very affordable prices.
The atmosphere is a relaxed and friendly.
Although the rooms are very basic, the air-con is making life pleasant and easy to sleep.
There's plenty of bathrooms and showers for guests to use and what's more important
they are CLEAN!
They have also an air-con and very comfortable net cafe located on the first floor.
If the menu is not up to your needs than right below the hostel is a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet and for those on a tiny budget 20m further from KFC the Anuja restaurant has an extensive menu to choose cheap meals from. Check them out.

If you get to stay there say hello from me to Marran the manager (standing-up in the photo), a very nice man to know and a very helpful person to guide you if you are unfamiliar with KL and his side-kick Dyen (sitting down in the photo) who is a charming and also a very polite person.
